Inventory Rules can be applied globally, to individual products, and to individual variations. This lets you keep simple defaults while making exceptions where your catalogue requires them.
Product-level rules
In the WooCommerce product editor, use the Inventory Rules panel to choose the rule mode. A product can inherit the global defaults or use a custom rule.
Variation-level rules
Variable products can have their own quantity controls at variation level. This is useful when one size, pack, colour or other variation needs different purchasing limits from the parent product.
Choosing inheritance or custom rules
- Inherit: use the applicable global/default rules.
- Custom: define the minimum, maximum and increment specifically for the product or variation.
Practical example
Imagine a product that normally sells in quantities of 5. You can keep a global increment of 5, then give one particular variation a custom increment of 1 if that variation is sold individually.
Premium product and category controls
Premium adds category rules and additional rule sources, allowing you to manage larger groups of products without editing every product individually.
Rule priority
When Premium features introduce multiple possible rule sources, the plugin determines which applicable rule should win. Diagnostics can show where a product's rule comes from and which rule is being applied.
