Quantity Rules are the foundation of Inventory Rules for WooCommerce. You can control the smallest quantity a customer may purchase, the largest quantity allowed, and the increments in which quantities may increase.
Minimum Quantity
The minimum quantity prevents a customer from purchasing fewer than the configured amount. For example, a minimum of 5 means a quantity of 1–4 is rejected.
Maximum Quantity
The maximum quantity places an upper limit on a purchase. Leave the maximum blank when no maximum should be enforced.
Quantity Increment
The increment controls the allowed steps. With a minimum of 5 and an increment of 5, valid quantities follow the pattern 5, 10, 15, 20….
How the rules work together
Think of the settings as a range and a step: the minimum establishes where purchasing starts, the maximum establishes where it stops, and the increment determines the allowed steps between them.
Minimum: 10 · Maximum: 50 · Increment: 10
Allowed quantities: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.
Global defaults
Global defaults can be applied to products that inherit them. This is useful when most of your catalogue follows the same purchasing pattern.
Cart validation
Inventory Rules validates quantities during the WooCommerce purchasing flow, helping prevent invalid quantities from reaching the order.
Store API and WooCommerce Blocks
The free plugin also provides quantity limits through the WooCommerce Store API, supporting modern WooCommerce Blocks-based shopping experiences.
